Not to be outdone by the One Hundred Dollar laptop project at MIT, the Innovations for Learning group has created a $50 handheld called teachermate. The teachermate is a small device about the size of a NintendoDS and has reading, math and classroom management software built in. There is a case which allows the teacher to charge and sync all of teachermates at the same time through one USB cable. Check it out!
Creating a brochure can be a daunting task. If you want your students to create a brochure for some project at school, take a look at mybrochuremaker.com. It's free and you can download the file into .pdf format and review before printing. If you have a full version of Acrobat, you might be able to adjust spelling.
Ray and Hollye are two teachers (he-physics, she-middle school Spanish)in the mid-west who talk about different links, gadgets, emerging technologies and integrating technology into lessons. This little artistic software company has just released some brand new products to compliment their current offerings. FableVision creator Peter H. Reynolds designed the Fizz and Martina characters for software which was part of the math software package from the Tom Snyder catalog. Now he ventures into more middle and high school projects. On the site, there are links to free materials for teachers. If you would like Peter to visit your school, you can arrange for this author/illustrator to provide a worthwhile program for your students.
